NEW DELHI: Hungary’s parliament on Monday accepted Sweden‘s Nato bid, marking a big step in the direction of the enlargement of the navy alliance in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The ratification handed with 188 votes in favor, and 6 in opposition to, eradicating the final hurdle for Sweden’s accession solidifying its place inside the alliance.
Swedish prime minister Ulf Kristersson mentioned on Monday that it was a “historic day,” after Hungary’s parliament ratified Sweden’s Nato bid, clearing the ultimate impediment for the Nordic nation to affix the navy alliance.

Hungary was the final among the many 31 members of the alliance to clear the best way for Sweden to affix the Western defence alliance as warfare rages in Ukraine.
